Well, first of all, I got to say I haven't layed a pixel in quite a while. Reason is, I have been quite busy with college stuff.

We generally use the computer in all of our graphic design classes, except on one subject, on where everything is done with traditional mediums (mostly pencils) and one of the assignations the teacher gave us was to do a portrait of a Latin American writer. In my case, I chose one of my favourite writers, Ernesto Sábato, an Argentine novelist and one of the most respected people in my country.

I know I kind of flunked in certain areas, but bear in mind that I *really* don't know how to draw (if I weren't using a reference, I'd have probably done much worse) and this was the first drawing I ever did with such proportions. It's all finished and I'm not going to modify it (and anyway, I can't, as I must present it as it is again to my teacher at the end of the first period, in early July).

It was drawn on an A3 Conqueror paper using some old, cheap color pencils I found sitting in my room. This one took approximately around 20 man hours to complete.

Note: I have reduced the image size a bit. It can still be appreciated at its best on full view. If people start asking for the original scan (which is not much bigger than this one) then I'll upload it somewhere and put a link here.

Hoy es un día triste, para el hombre y las palabras...., en paz descanse el gran Ernesto Sábato.

You really know how to move those pencils.. You must have a lot of patience to draw such detail.
You can really see the eyes behind the glasses

Although it's obvious at full view, I totally thought this was a picture at first.

Good Christ, that's impressive. Was it based on a photograph? I think I'd very much like to see the full versoin.
